When art goes bad

While shopping with a friend at IKEA the other day she pointed out a craft activity she regularly has her daughter do. Apparently it's so interesting that her three-year-old angel will sit for hours on her own doing the bead shaping craft. I quickly bought the craft kit and couldn't wait to show it to Devin.

Let's just say that it didn't exactly keep Devin occupied. In fact, it was quite the opposite. She instead whined for help and after getting half way through a project, would destroy it in order to start over again. I'm ready to tear my hair out after one day with this craft kit.

So I called my friend to give her a piece of my mind.

"Maybe it's your fault for not knowing your own daughter," she countered. "When has Devin sat still for hours for anything?"

Checkmate. Devin's never sits still for more than a few minutes for anything. It's just not fair! My only consolation is that her younger daughter seems a little more like Devin. I'm evil and hoping that she will be as active as Devin, making it impossible for her mom to enjoy a moment of peace.
