Although I am really not a morning person, I do have to admit something. I love my early morning exercise sessions. Most mornings I get up between 5:30 and 6:00 to bike, jog or swim and have really been enjoying the guilt free time without the kids.
Too often I feel guilty when I’m not activity playing with my girls. I also feel guilty when I take time out for myself and leave them with anyone else. I worry that they are going to miss me or need me when I’m not around. (And I know, I need to drop the guilt about leaving the kids in child minding or with a baby sitter – I’m working on that! At least I leave them despite the guilt, right).
In any case, for some reason, sneaking out the door when they are tucked snug in their beds in the early morning is very satisfying. If they wake up when I’m not there, I know that Ken can take care of it and that they can all enjoy some early morning snuggles.
Best of all, I feel invigorated after my morning exercise routine and ready to deal with my girls – even if they aren’t always ready to start their day with a smile quite yet.
